About Us

Scotland's First LGBTIQ+ Inclusive Floorball Team.

Perth Parrots Floorball Club offers a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTIQ+ Community and its allies. Open to those aged 18+, the club enables individuals to participate in both regular training and league events regardless of gender identity. The Parrots compete in the Scottish Floorball League which hosts regular competitive events across Scotland.

For those not interested in the competitive element of sport, the weekly training sessions help to maintain individual fitness, toning, balance and coordination. Additionally the Parrots offer a wider range of activities and social events to help build team spirit and allow club members to make new friends and bond as a team.

What is floorball? Floorball is a fast growing sport in the UK which has taken a significant foothold in Northern and Eastern Europe. Floorball is similar in style to ice hockey, just without ice, skates and uses a ball rather than a puck.

This means that the sport is far more affordable and accessible given that expensive time on an ice rink is not required. Teams consist of five players and a goalkeeper on the field and quick unlimited switches with a wider team of up to twenty players.

Where It Started

Perth Parrots Floorball Club
 June 2019

The Perth Parrots were formed in 2019 with the aims of providing a pathway for the LGBTIQ+ community to access floorball and to help grow the sport in Scotland, to offer additional social activity opportunities as part of a wider club and community-focused programme, and to increase LGBTIQ+ visibility, challenge discrimination and champion inclusion in Floorball and beyond.

Sport For Change Network

Live Active Sport in partnership with sportscotland and the Gannochy Trust is pleased to launch a new Sport for Change Network, in Perth City.

The aim of the network is to address inequalities that prevent local people accessing quality sport and physical activity opportunities. Furthermore, we are looking for clubs to develop projects that focus specifically on the theme of improving mental wellbeing.

What is Sport for Change?

Sport for change is using physical activity and sport intentionally to bring about positive benefits for individuals and communities, to address specific needs.
